Dear
Readers of My Blog, 💚
Health Tips for Seniors:
Unless you have a skin disease or disorder of some kind that requires a doctor’s care and advice, my personal preference is first to treat our skin from the inside out by eating properly. These days, with prices so outrageously high, supermarkets should, in my opinion, simply hang a banner over their produce departments with huge dollar signs on it. Many people can’t afford to buy a medley of fresh or frozen vegetables. Therefore, I recommend that if you fall into that category, as I do at present, that you try to get “the most bang for your buck” by purchasing washed spinach in the plastic tubs, fresh or frozen blueberries, and bananas for several vitamins and minerals, but especially for Potassium. Spinach and blueberries are superfoods, so they will help you to radiate good health through your integumentary system—the largest organ of the body, which is your skin. For Potassium, I also like orange juice without fiber. During the summer, fresh blueberries soften and go bad sooner than in other seasons, because of the warmer temperatures, even under refrigeration, so I buy my blueberries from the refrigerated case at the store and then freeze them when I return home, because they last longer. But if they are less expensive, I prefer to buy blueberries that are already frozen by the store. Either way, frozen blueberries are a delicious treat on hot days. Spinach, blueberries, and bananas will make your skin glow and relax your weary nerves. Naturally, when dealing with fruits and vegetables, it’s always good to mix it up and add variety, so sometimes purchase a few avocados which are excellent for the skin and the lungs. Shredded carrots are easy on the teeth and crowns and support skin and lung health as well. Grapefruits and oranges are rich in Vitamin C. And onions ward off colds, as does garlic. But I am not one to eat raw garlic, so I am keen on purchasing garlic-stuffed olives and eating a couple of them here and there as a snack. The Mezzetta brand is my favorite for the consistent firmness of the olives and for the flavor—in these two areas, Mezzetta is a superstar, and their rather high price point reflects this. Garlic thins the blood, so avoid eating more than two garlic-stuffed olives per night.
Keeping our facial skin clean with a soft washcloth is also important every day, at least twice per day, and then follow up with a good lotion. I like Nivea, which isn’t cheap, but at $10 to $14 a container, it’s still less expensive than many skin creams, and it does a superb job of lubricating the skin while having a light and airy feel.
Update: I want to let my readers know that I have been away from my blog posts for several days, and next week, I expect to work with my IT person on my blog’s technical aspects. However, by sometime this coming week, I expect to have an exciting post for you in the writing tips’ category that I am hopeful will really begin to dig into how to write with style, depth, and pizzazz. So, see you back here one day in the coming week.
God bless and see you soon…Glo
